The key to remaining well this month

Holiday month is in full force. What a perfect time to embrace the wellness pathway of … simplicity.

“What?” you say. “I have to decorate, bake, find gifts, clean the house top to bottom, write cards. Are you freakin’ out of your mind? Simplicity, my ass!”

And … exactly. That’s exactly why you need simplicity more than ever. Because all those “got to” things are going to make you ill now or in a little while.

Yeah, I know; you’re still arguing with me, aren’t you? You can’t. You know you can’t. What would people think? What would happen. The world would end, OH MY GOD!

No, it wouldn’t. What would happen is that you’d be saner, enjoy your holidays more, stay well and, best of all, set a good example for everyone around you so perhaps they could do the same.

Changing how you enjoy the holidays is a choice. It’s not such a bad thing. You probably were pushed by non-well-meaning people and marketing messages to put yourself into this holiday overload. Not what you want to listen to. Take back your time, your health and your joy.

You don’t have to change it all tomorrow. Where can you simplify your holiday plans, even a little bit? Start there. Conquer the world tomorrow.

It might seem like I’m harping on this subject a lot lately. I am. I consider it my personal mission to stop the craziness that holidays have become. It pains me to see people rush around, stressed out, angry, frustrated and worried. All in the name of a holiday. Seems like that’s the opposite to what it should be – and could be. And you pay it for it with more than your wallet. People get really sick in January, sometimes still in December, from all this scurrying and worrying. It’s not worth it. No one should want that for you, and, even if they do, you don’t need to wish it upon yourself. Holidays can be just as magical and happy with a bit of scaling back.
