Change your view; change your health

Woman ReadingThis is one of the easiest tools to help change how you feel … in an instant. So easy you may discount it, but stick with me; this is short. Then try out what I suggest and prove it for yourself.

What is it? Consider what you look at. Not only what you choose to see but what simply happens to be in your area of focus. Even if that’s a non-focused sort of focus.

Wherever you are, what is there? What are your surroundings? What draws your attention? Look around right now. What catches your eye? Is it something that lifts your spirits, and, with that, your mindset? Or is it something that makes you feel frustrated or angry or stressed?

There are plenty of ways to make slight adjustments to what surrounds you throughout the bulk of your day. But, first, figure out what appeals to you. What do you like to see? Would a plant help? Artwork? You also even can consider changing where you are sitting or which way you’re facing so you’re viewing a scene you enjoy vs. something you don’t.

Try this experiment, and I think you’ll be astonished at the difference. Sit so your view is of something more negative — a pile of work or laundry or something that bothers you or needs your attention. Maybe even people hurrying around anxiously or some non-beautiful outside scene.

Then change so you can see something that is peaceful or happy. With only that switch, how different do you feel?

Sometimes, it’s just that simple to help re-frame your mindset. Sometimes it needs more, but a pleasant view definitely can tip the balance more toward happiness than stress … and more health than not.
