Life can be complicated enough at times. Let’s go ahead and make it easier. I don’t think we need one more thing that puts us into overwhelm. Overwhelm does not translate into building health.
Instead, minutes get you somewhere minus the overwhelm. And, minutes matter. Don’t ever pooh-pooh (or let someone else pooh-pooh) only doing something for a few minutes. It’s a start, and I think you’ll be shocked at what it leads you to next.
Let’s apply this to the wellness building block of movement. Okay, okay, you may know it as exercise, but I call it movement because that’s what matters when it comes to wellness. Simply moving your body. So, things that you wouldn’t normally count as “exercise” do, indeed, count.
Find something new to commit to each day for just a few minutes that gets your beautiful body in motion. Doesn’t matter what it is in the least. If you love it, all the better. If it makes you feel empowered, extra bonus points.
I could give you a hundred thousand examples. But you best know the one that fits. Aim for a few minutes of this new try. But no more. Don’t make this un-doable. Make it crazy easy. You know — it’s like getting off the couch when you’re feeling lazy. The hardest part always is … getting off the couch. Once you get your body moving, it’s way easier.
Plus, I promise you — that initial start will matter in the long run. And you’ll feel awesome and successful and motivated in the short run. The joy just that brings you may even be worth more than the movement. A happy you is a healthier you.
Yes, it’s easy. Yes, that’s what I am all about — breaking down wellness so you feel it’s hugely possible. I can pretty much guarantee you that, if you keep stringing together ideas like this, you will feel — and be — healthier.
Need help in figuring out your minutes? Or which building block is your best one to start focusing on? That’s what I do, and I now have a super easy, inexpensive way to start: Let’s get that wellness ball rolling.
